I’m currently in the final year of my PhD. Throughout my studies, I’ve had the great opportunity to attend and present at various conferences—both through posters and talks. I also took part in the European School on Magnetism in Madrid and the Career Accelerator in Potsdam. As part of our SPIE/Optica student chapter, we’ve organized a number of events for both the general public and fellow students, including the OPTO2024 conference. Every year, our outreach efforts reach thousands of people across the Czech Republic through several large-scale events.

Wherever I go, my camera is always with me. I rarely pass up the chance to capture something interesting or beautiful through the lens.

Over the past year, I’ve gotten into fitness more seriously. As the end of my PhD draws near, I’ve found that regular workouts help keep me grounded and focused.

Although I often struggle to find the energy to sit down with a book, audiobooks have become a great companion—usually during workouts. Thanks to them, I’ve finally caught up on many titles I’d been meaning to explore. I enjoy switching between fiction and personal development. Some of my favorites include Outlive, Never Split the Difference, How to Talk to Anyone, and of course, The Lord of the Rings and The Silmarillion.

Whether through the lens of my camera or the pages of a history book, I love discovering new perspectives. I’m driven by a fascination with technology (the bigger, the better), a love of travel, and a growing passion for fitness.

Personal Achievements

  • From 2022 until the end of May, 2025, I was a member of Faculty Acacemic senate. Almost immediately after the start of my term, I was elected chair of study committee and my first task was to convince several stubborn members of the academic community to allow the split of the state exam and thesis defence at our faculty. This success boosted my confidence and I can only say that the rest of my Academic Senate career was as acomplished. The second year, I joined the editorial board, which approves all publishing at our faculty and for my last year, I was elected as the Chair of the student chamber of the Academic Senate.

  • In 2025, our SPIE/Optics student chapter, also known as Optický Spolek Matfyz (Optical Society at Matfyz), was awarded 2nd place SPIE Presidential Award for our large engagement with public as well as for OPTO2024 conference and focus on mental health issues during the conference.

  • In 2023, I joined a project at the University of Bialystok. I was a member of a large team in a consortium of universities and companies, including Radboud University, University of Cambridge, Thales and others. During that time, I also attended Europen School on Magnetism, several conferences with posters and talks and multiple secondments at Radboud University and ICMM-CSIC in Madrid. I also actively participated in group meetings around Europe.

  • Our SPIE/Optica student chapter had the great opportunity to host 19th OPTO conference in Prague. You can learn more here.

  • Together with my colleague, we presented our idea on how to get the general public to improve their health. Our focus was on the outdoor gyms and workout parks that are all across the Czech Republic but still underused. Our idea was greatly appreciated and we were able to present it in the final round of the competition. This move from my comfort zone of science into public health brought me diverse experience.

  • OPTO2022 was the first conference where I presented a talk instead of by go-to option, poster. I was very surprised when I was awarded best presentation award at the end of the conference.

  • I graduated my mysters with honors. With that, I also received a scholarship for perfect grades, an equivalent of GPA 4.0.
